About Me
Greetings! I am Dr. Mercedes Santana (she/her/ella) an Afro-Latine multicultural trauma psychologist, self-care expert, and career counselor offering services to adults. I believe in the power of safe spaces, the importance of feeling heard, and the transformative potential of support in the therapeutic process. My approach blends relational, cognitive, brain-based, and somatic methodologies, placing the narratives of individuals at the forefront within a context that is affirming and liberating.
Together, we will build your skills to manage stress and anxiety in the context of our therapeutic relationship. Since my very first clinical practicum, I have been sought out mostly by members of the Global Majority and/or LGBTQ+ folks for care, however welcome ALL. To align my care and produce sustainable healing, I am in the ever ongoing process of decolonizing my practice, which brings a certain level of humanity and critical consciousness not found in traditional Western psychological approaches.
For career counseling, I offer interest/value/skill exploration, resumé tailoring, interview preparation, job search planning, and career planning services. I have graduate level preparation in vocational psychology and professional work experience as a career counselor.
